About this course

Please note, On 16 April 2025 the Supreme Court returned the ruling that the protected characteristic of “sex” in the Equality Act 2010 refers to biological sex. The result of this ruling can be viewed on the Supreme Court website. The Equality and Human Rights Commission (the EHRC, the national equality and human rights regulator for England, Scotland and Wales) released an interim update on 25 April 2025 to help employers and others understand how to follow the law in response to the Supreme Court ruling. The EHRC is working 'at pace' to update its statutory and non-statutory guidance. We will update our content appropriately when the EHRC statutory guidance is available or changes are made.

Course length: One day

Delivery: Online classes and self-directed learning

Suitable for: Professionals who are already familiar with aspects of employment law and who want insight into recent and upcoming employment law changes.

Topics for Autumn 2025

Stay ahead of the biggest changes in Employment Law for a generation

Major changes are on the horizon. The Employment Rights Bill - now in its final stages in Parliament - is set to transform the employment law landscape. With its third and final reading scheduled for 3 September, Royal Assent is expected soon after, creating a significant update to employment law.

The government’s implementation map confirms a phased rollout:

  • Immediate changes once the Bill passes
  • Further updates in April 2026, October 2026, and 2027

Our Autumn Employment Law Update will give you the knowledge and confidence to prepare your organisation for these changes — and more. We’ll explain:

  • exactly what’s changing under the Employment Rights Bill
  • when each change takes effect
  • practical steps HR teams should be taking now.

But we don’t stop there. We know HR challenges extend far beyond one piece of legislation. This autumn, we’ll also cover:

  • Supreme Court ruling on definition of "sex” and what that means for organisations
  • managing sickness absence and fair dismissal of unfit employees
  • handling tricky redundancy scenarios
  • navigating strong — and conflicting — employee beliefs
  • considerations for bringing employees back to the workplace after extended remote work
  • all other upcoming employment law changes beyond the Bill
  • a roundup of the latest case law and what it means for your policies.

Join our Employment Law Update and stay one step ahead.
